James (Alex) Key

Alex Key joined the Law Firm of Fortune, Beard, Arnold, & Arnold, LLP in 2025 as an Intern/Law Clerk.  Following his successful completion of the Alabama Bar Examination in July 2026, Mr. Key will be an Associate Attorney for Fortune, Beard, Arnold, & Arnold, LLP. Mr. Key earned his Bachelor’s degree in Law and Justice  from Auburn University in 2023 and is currently perusing his Juris Doctor at Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law, where he is expected to graduate in May 2026.

A Birmingham native, Alex was raised in the Indian Springs community. During this time, he attended Briarwood Christian High School, graduating in 2019. He and his wife Avery currently reside in the Meadowbrook area. 

During law school, Alex developed an interest in real estate matters, business transactions, probate administration, and homeowners association issues. He gained practical experience and knowledge during his 2025 summer clerkship at Fortune, Beard, Arnold & Arnold. During this clerkship, Alex had the chance to work closely with the firm’s attorneys and was exposed to many areas of the law. Above all, his favorite part of this summer experience was the time spent working on client matters; he thoroughly enjoyed seeing hard work paying off in real time. Alex is committed to providing legal services to the best of his ability to his clients. He looks forward to developing his practice under the mentorship of the firm’s partners 

Outside of the office, Alex enjoys spending time with friends and family, playing golf and basketball and traveling with his wife to explore new cities. They also enjoy taking their dog, Sammy, on walks around Birmingham.
